Unceasing, repellent fighting talents of the foreign warrior may have been a once-in-a-decade occurrence in sleepy Arstoria villages. But there was no mistaking its presence here, smack in the middle of the capital city.

Levianze’s Arrival in the Capital City

Chapter 1 follows Levianze as he descends upon the prosperous capital city of the Kaibart Empire on a mission of personal vengeance. For twenty years, since the massacre of his clan at age nine, Levianze has traveled through the known lands, fomenting pieces of information concerning the affair. Now, as the mean streets of this shining city face him, he wonders if all of them were clues that could bring him to some form of truth.

When he arrives in that busy city, Levianze is warned by the mysterious man of all sorts of advances ominous against him. Several mercenaries and killers are sent out to confront Levianze within the bustling city. But the combined effort proves absolutely no match for Levianze’s masterful swordsmanship. With one deadly blade strike after another, he cuts them all down.

Encounter with the Mysterious Girl Riel

As he makes his rounds in the capital city, he gets to meet this strange-looking silver-haired girl who calls herself Riel. Seemingly, she knows Levianze and details all of his family background interestingly out of the blue.

It cautions Levianze that he is used, that there are others wishing to use his desire for the satisfaction of personal vengeance. He warns him to be careful of who he trusts or aligns with on his quest. It seems that Riel is more aware of the massacre of Levianze’s clan than she lets on at first.

Levianze is rather skeptical towards the odd girl and does not totally believe her warnings. However, this encounter in the church is a clear foreshadow of the sinister twist of events which has just swept over Levianze’s life. Riel’s unexpected appearance proclaims hidden powers start to puppeteer Levianze with him going into a course it seems he is not able to influence.

Levianze’s Vengeance Motivation

Work, though, there are the intrigues and entanglements arrayed against him in the capital. In view of them, the thought of killing sufficient numbers of men to exact proper revenge for his clan is never firmer. In the last few panels of Chapter 1, Levianze falls to his knees before his sword, the Flower of Veneration, and most solemnly vows:

“I swear I’ll rest not until I’ll make ’em pay for what they’ve done. For the honor of my massacred clan, I will have vengeance!” And here is the bright flame intended for the part of punishment on the spoiled family and the people burning in the spirit of Levianze, who has taken his thirst for blood and anger on a far more gloomy journey.
